Happy Birthday, ChatGPT!
November 30, 2022, was the day ChatGPT was released to the general public. It feels like so much has changed since that date and in the past year. The technology has come so far. We now have the ability to generate images, videos, and even songs. I wanted to take a moment in this month's newsletter to say Happy Birthday. Now, let's get into some updates.
Mistral's LeChat Gets Vision
Mistral, one of the better open-source models, has just released a significant update. LeChat, which is essentially their own ChatGPT-like interface, has received some massive upgrades. You can now browse the web, generate images with Flux, and use a canvas mode.
Regarding the web browsing mode, there was no documentation on how they are obtaining the results, so we will have to do some digging on that. The image generation from the Flux PRO model is fantastic and really wonderful for a free service, making it totally worth exploring.
Finally, the canvas feature is an update similar to what we have seen with Claude and ChatGPT, providing a nicer interface to interact with and edit documents and code, offering a pleasant experience.
Mistral's product offering has become much more complete and is worth adding to your arsenal, as many of these features are typically behind a paywall.
Gemini Gets Memory
This one seems long overdue, but Google's Gemini will now allow you to save information into a "memory." This is similar to custom instructions in Chatgpt. But, this is one of those things that Google is adding to Gemini and it is quietly getting better and better with each week.
That’s all for this edition. Thank you!
